Bake It Up!
“Bake it Up!” is an exciting culinary adventure designed for school-aged children to explore the world of baking and cooking. In this hands-on class, budding chefs will dive into the art of baking delicious treats while mastering essential kitchen skills.

Future Innovators
In an increasingly technology-driven world, the kids will learn skills that will help them as they grow and prepare for jobs that don’t yet exist. The best part is that we’ll do this through hands-on activities that will get them moving, building, and thinking!

Maker Gym
Kids will use critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and curiosity to develop fun obstacles and activities using different equipment each week. In Maker Gym, children will work as a team to develop their own exercises and take a look at how STEAM is involved in the sports they all know and love!

Passport to Culture
Thanks to generous funding from Bravo Greater Des Moines, the Waukee Family YMCA is providing free program opportunities for youth who are entering first grade through eighth grade in the fall of 2024. Bravo Greater Des Moines is the region’s arts council, maximizing the impact of arts, culture and heritage on regional priorities. Specifically, Passport to Culture is the youth program by Bravo providing funding so that youth across Central Iowa can experience culturally enriching educational opportunities in and out of the classroom. Passport to Culture supports arts and cultural programs that align with the Waukee Family YMCA’s Makerspace objectives provided by approved Bravo Cultural Partners. Join us for fun experiences on-site and off-site throughout the month of July as we learn cultural awareness & sensitivity, practice empathy, build confidence & security, improve communication skills, and strengthen critical thinking skills.
Passport to Culture programs are FREE for YMCA Members & Non-Members.
